When An Elderly
Parent Is In Crisis

An elderly parent can move along comfortably and independently for decades until they can't. A problem like dementia or Parkinson's disease can be slow in evolving and then reach a tipping point, when the parent becomes a dependent.

Case Study:

Dennis was 81 years old and had dementia that had progressed significantly. He had been at home with his wife and a care provider until his behaviour became erratic. He started to wander. Leaving the house late at night. He got aggressive with his wife. This caused the adult children to get mobilized.

The Quest Executive team was asked to assist. Our social workers completed a discovery process with the adult children, the wife and the client. This deep dive allowed the Quest Executive team to develop an action plan which included: selection of a retirement centre with a memory unit, hiring of private care providers for 24*7 care, creating a social prescription to keep Dennis engaged in meaningful and pleasurable activities, brain stimulation exercises, appropriate medications to assist with a sleep disorder and aggressive behaviours. Dennis settled. His wife was less stressed and their adult children could return to their businesses and careers.
